Night 31: Dalton Highway
Nice little 9 day roadtrip down the Sierra Nevadas with no destination. All of the “campgrounds” were super small, unmaintained FS campgrounds but great stops. Every night other than at Gold Lake I was totally alone. Good times
#20 Green Mountain Campground, BLM Central OR
#21 Upper Rush Creek Campground, Modoc NF
#22 Gold Lake 4x4 Campground, Plumas NF
#23 Gold Lake 4x4 Campground (too good to leave)
#24 Dispersed near Caples Lake, CA, El Dorado NF
#25 Dispersed near Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, Inyo NF
#26 Spinning Wheel Campground, Stanislaus NF
#27 Dispersed on Lake Shasta, Shasta-Trinity NF
#30
Washington in whatcom county up a logging road. A little 4x4 and mid to get here and a great time with our boys.
#28 Deschutes River, Deschutes NF. Nice little dispersed site next to the river, it got super cold at night but that was okay since I had my girlfriend with me this time
#29 Near Paulina Lake, Deschutes NF. This was a cool spot, the walls were that white pumice and the floor was the red lava rock. Great little place after a long day on the lake. Had a weird experience though, we were walking our two dogs up and out of the spot (one way in/out) in our swim shorts/bikini. Two guys pull down the road and drive past us, then open their window and say “Hey, are you camping down there? (yes) Is it cool if we go shoot for like 15 minutes (no, sorry dude our dogs will get nervous)”. They seemed annoyed and drove off. Felt weird, who wants to A. shoot in a campsite with random people and B. who would want someone to do that. Anyway, good weekend in Central OR!
I’m starting to fear the inevitable. With the winter coming quick and the rainy damp season sticking around unless I can grab a diesel heater and figure it out soon I’m thinking I won’t hit the 51 nights this year as I still need 19 I swear I’ll keep up with you next year
You gotta get a diesel heater. Just took mine out and tested it after summer. I’m thinking I might hit 65-70 this year now.
This is the only one I can get here
It’s been damp and rain for over a month now with a daily high of 45 so it never burns off sadly.
10 nights in the GFC as a family 4 (only have 2 pics of the truck/ to share). Blurry photo of the truck at Silver Lake Dunes.
