Camp/Surf trip to Malibu with wife and friends. Haven’t gotten out in a while due to work. Hopefully I can get a lot more nights in before the year is over!

Day 18 - McCarthy, AK
Picked a spot with glacier as backdrop. Used all of my leveling blocks to achieve perfect level. It was 4 degrees off camber before. I tried to stack rocks but decided not to take apart the fire ring.

Day 20 - Homer Spit, AK
Paid site today because there’s no dispersed camping here.
This turned out to be the most chill day of the entire trip. Got in at 4, bought dinner from local’s recommended spot at 5, then sat by campfire and worked on the photos while soaking in the view till 11.
Even though it’s crowded here with no privacy, people here are friendly: one of my neighbors shared pics of his son playing in the water after telling me the young man spent 40 minutes in the ocean as sun was setting, plenty of people came by and asked about the camper and truck setup. Others nod or say hi as they’re walking by.
Man… now i’m thinking GFC should sponsor the trip lol I’m generating so many interest for the camper! Everyone’s amazed when they learned the XL is only ~300lb and the floor opens for inside access.

RIGHT! It’s amazing how many people are still unaware these things exist. Hunters….I can’t believe they haven’t purchased these in droves in BC! Or the RTT’s for their $80k Side by Side’s.

Had to activate cabana mode on this trip - got hit with a pretty bad thunderstorm for a few hours. Second time camping with our 3 month old and she loved it!

yeah! I only saw ONE GFC since I crossed the border 12 days ago. And that one was parked at Whittier, AK lol

true. tons of 5th wheels, RVs, and stuff I see.
But none can go fast on dirt road lol
Everyone pulled over to let me pass when they see me approach and I was doing speed limit posted on Google Maps!

Night #21 - Mt Hood NF near Timothy Lake
Found a prime spot near Timothy Lake along the Oak Grove Fork Clackamas River. First time taking the truck out in a while, July was busy and installed all new suspension that took a while

Was a beautiful morning but then a crazy thunderstorm rolled in around 4pm. Ended up making a nest in the bed of the truck and watching movies while it poured rain with lightning and thunder.
