We feel incredibly lucky that we get to spend so much time out and about, it’s not without its challenges, but they are worth it!

Unfortunately not out camping, but took advantage of the mid winter thaw by pressure washing and airing everything out!

Random question, how do you guys store your dometic jugs: vertical, horizontal, near the pump or stowed away?

they are stored vertically in the cabinet that the faucet head is over, when one runs out we just switch the hose over the next. I linked below our build post.

Thats how i have it now, vertical. I keep thinking about shortening my bench and rotating it horizontal but was curious of leakage…

I wouldn’t recommend running them horizontally, the pickup tube wouldn’t fully reach the bottom, plus since you have to leave the breather vent open for use, the likelihood of forgetting to close it for driving and sloshing out a lot of water is pretty high. additionally, we have replaced all the original screw top lids on them since they have all cracked. we used Nalgene replacement tops.

Ha! Good call, didn’t even think about the breather valve.

Cheers guys. Keep rockin Baja.

Just curious how much the wood weighs. I have a decked system in my truck, and then some converted storage containers. I know people always complain about the weight of real wood, but have you found that to be an issue? I’m thinking of ways I can change my set up going into the spring.

i can’t remember exactly, but I think it was around 270-ish lbs for all of the wood build. We did as much lightening and shaving away material as we could in places that would allow for it. There are a lot of photos in our rebuild page that show how we tried to cut out as much as we could.

Regarding weight being an issue, we have switched to a fully custom suspension to accommodate the weight we have added to the truck, roughly 1400lbs. Alcan springs made us specific springs for the added weight, plus the additional lift I wanted to achieve.

Night 1: Anza, CA

Off to a really really late start this year. I missed out on January due to a recurring ankle injury that made walking as hard as landing on moon (recurring as in… when it gets really cold it happens).

Since being out since late December until late February, I forgot to snag a pic of my tent deployed. BUT I do have a pic of my friend’s 3rd gen with GFC from me sitting in my camper downstairs area. I think that counts lol
