When get into dusty road environments I just lock the front latch on each side of my camper with the panel open and then close the panel and clasp the back latch so it props the front edge of the camper open and works really well to create negative pressure. I don’t ever have dust issues inside. Is that bad?
Are these horses part of the Onaqui Mountains herd out by the Pony Express Trail?
Yeah they are, actually heading to Ely Sunday to document the horse roundup out there.

This is so counterintuitive, that propping open the panel could actually reduce dust ingress, but they even mention it in the GFC manual on page 15 (dog section).
I went “off roading” in my 2WD a while back, and I finally learned why everyone is so concerned about dust.
That’s a part of the manual I skipped over (no dog) so never saw it!! They thought of everything!! I need to caveat my earlier comment that all benefits of the “vented” front panel are negated if you’re following another vehicle on a dirt road… ¯_(ツ)_/¯ thanks for the reply VChief!
Did you end up getting a filter? What did you use if so, and any pictures of how you put it on?
I didn’t. It seems fine without it. That location does not seem to get a lot of dust going down the roads.
I guess my concern is following someone down a dusty road
Just put these in my cart…i think i’m gonna wait to use my gfc (just bought a week ago) and see how bad it actually gets back there. I already have 1x1" foam seal on the tailgate/bed from when I had a regular shell, but I can now see some large gaps with the GFC. Gonna fill those spots in and maybe just replace all the foam I have as it’s been a couple years…my amazon “GFC” list and other sellers’ carts are getting very full…
