Superlite is here!

Agreed. Or, a lack of attention to detail. The Superlite isn’t the most expensive RTT; however, it isn’t a $30.00 Wal-Mart tent either. I expect a decent quality for the money I paid. To be honest. I have thought a little about selling it and getting a different RTT.

Is there any chance you can get me some help from GFC? I bought the T track nuts thinking they would work on my Superlite. They are way too small. How can I return them and get the correct size for my Superlite? I’ve sent email and left messages on the support voicemail. Thank you for any help you have.

I used these

Thanks for the reply- that helps - what size t nuts did you utilize?

Also that doesn’t seem like alot of thread engagement with a t-nut.

Do you feel like your SL is going to remain solidly mounted off-road & Highway?

Cheers

Ive been using my Superlite for awhile now and have the same problem you have. One side I can fit around the pole the other I cannot. It hasn’t been a problem yet.

i used the 1/4-20 t nuts. the QR mounts are torqued down and added loctite. there really shouldnt be that much tension on the bolts so I dont see it as a problem. there also really isnt another way to fasten to the crossbars short of drilling through holes. my guess is the aluminum extrusion would yield before the nut fails

Awesome thanks for the info!

Glad to hear the short Velcro straps and inability to secure the pole(s) has not been an issue.

Has anyone mounted (and used) a SuperLite to a 5th Gen Subaru Outback?

Would love to know of your experience. There’s limited info out there and what I have found hasn’t been very helpful.

Has anyone gotten a damaged ladder and was told by GFC to take it up with the shipping company? Seems there’s no protection inside the box of the ladder. Submitted a claim with UPS but seems odd it was sort of dismissed and not packaged with some sort of bubble wrap.

if it arrived damaged good luck with a claim with UPS.my experience through the years is they almost never pay out. they make the burden of proof so hard . in my opinion you should always document with photos anything thats is a big item as you open the box. GFC should help you out… i believe its they who have to file the form as the shipper. i would also file a claim on your credit card last resort.

I’d be interested if you decide to sell

I never use the straps around the poles on my Superlite. Maybe if I was in high winds you’d need to do so.

2nd trip out we hit the road for a week, camped at open ranches in Texas, Big Bend NP and State Parks, Ft Davis, Baca CCC in NM Lincoln National Forest, Lava Flows NM, Three rivers Camp ground NM, Cloudcroft NM, Hatch NM next to a pepper field and the Rio Grand River. Hiked, Fished, wheeled and enjoyed great nights of sleep. My fault one night zipped up the tent tight in the low 30s and had lots of condesation because we didn’t vent the tent! Fly rods are a must, a small fan is very helpful. Lots of fun and is worth it. That said 2.0 is likely to address a number of things that could have been.

Hi, what exactly are you using in these photos to strap down the surfboard? Looking for solutions to mounting boards on top of it. Thanks!

long kayak canoe straps with cam buckles, Always get longer than you think you need .

New Superlite owner here from the last drop, question about packing up the tent. Is it ok to crawl around on the roof of the stowed tent to close up the main cover zipper and secure the straps?

While messing with it on the garage floor, that seems like it would be easier/faster than working around the perimeter from the edges of the vehicle. It also helps compress the mattress and bedding inside better.

But not sure if the roof panel is as strong as the base panel and thus rated to have somebody scooting around on it on hands and knees. I’ll admit I did some of that and it seemed fine, I weigh about 180 lb. I saw a question like this asked for another GFC product where the answer was it wasn’t recommended, but what’s the scoop with the Superlite?

Heard back from GFC on my question above. They said it should be fine to sit on the stowed SL roof, just don’t go jumping around on it.
