What have you done to your GFC this week

Are you selling these this is very nice. Best way to reuse the Yakima investment and more versatile.

I have that same light, i love that thing, it puts out so much at night it’s almost obnoxious lol. I tend to just use it in single side mode, and am able to run it almost the whole evening.

Camper officially went on to its new owner :call_me_hand:t4:

oh yeah when we’re not doing anything i leave it on single side low output mode.
I also leave it on like that the whole night so it’s easier for me to find my way home if i have to get up and relief myself in the middle of the night when not wearing glasses. Also it’s extra useful to be used as a beacon so other people know there’s a campsite there. sometimes when we camp in the desert other people tend to get too close

How much of a pain was it to get off your truck? I’ll be doing the same likely this weekend - any tips? I’ve got 4 guys helping.

Not gunna tell you it’s easy but definitely doable with 4-5 strong people :joy: It’s not that it’s super heavy, just weird weight distribution. We semi-slid it off the bed rails onto the tailgate where everyone can get a better grab and placed it on sawhorses.

Take it slow and make sure no one drops it and you’ll be good to go! Communication and a plan is key!

I had to take our camper off last year because we got rear ended and needed a new towing/hitch assembly. My technique was to unbolt the GFC and slide a few 2x4s between the bedrails and the brackets on the GFC. I actually drilled holes into the 2x4s and bolted the GFC directly to them. This gave a stable place to hold and lift from on each side. Might have been overkill but it made it really each to move on and off with 4 people.

Sorry I don’t have a better photo.

Oh this is absolutely amazing. Thank you so much! This is the technique I’m going to try.

EDIT: I tried it and it worked fantastically! We didn’t bolt it to the wood, just tried to keep it somewhat level while moving it. 4 guys, no problem at all. The back end is actually super light. Front end was kind of iffy lol

Thank you again for the tip!

It made it really easy to get the correct placment when putting it back on the truck. Just get it lined up, unbolt the 2x4’s, and pull one board out at a time. Worked great!

added the rear dash cam from FitCam.

For a Ram 1500 DT with 5’7 bed, it takes about 26ft of cables to go from driver footwell area to the camper.

ha, too cold in the G Lot?

we parked up on road 128 i believe so we could have a real fire. Honestly wasnt too bad for me in a zero degree bag. i think it dropped down to 9, Girlfriend wasnt too thrilled though haha

Yup, been there. The zero bags are great. We have them and use them backpacking or in the truck. You’ll like a heater though. Makes the going to bed and waking up easier.
