Sheets installed, Aeronaut hard at work… snores begin shortly.
I have used this LL Bean Fleece to use on a backpacking trip. I’m pretty stumpy in size and was not sure if this pad could hold my weight on top of rocky or other types of detritus terrain. I was wrong. The pad stayed inflated and I did not feel any points of discomfort. I had paired the Sleepingo with the Therma-Rest Z-lite because I did not want the Sleeping to pop, but I move when I sleep and I somehow pushed this Therma-Rest to the side of my tent and ended up on the Sleeping on rough ground. The pad held up just fine.
Any updates here?
Is this still in the works?
Still very much stoked to get this one going! We’ve got a new batch of quilts coming end of June and those sales will help pay for the materials and build of some rad modular GFC mattresses. But right now, the only trick is our cash flow, so hopefully we can get that moving asap
I’d like a rad modular GFC mattress. I’ll be watching this thread.
Peace.
Thanks for checking in on this! No updates yet, mattress development is on pause for now.
We’re working through product strategy and right now focused on getting the word out on these quilts – so we can grow the right way and be here long term. Folks are super stoked on them, 20+ 5 star reviews etc, but not many people know they exist or have felt them in person. Once that happens and we can have the cash flow, these are for sure on deck… Absolutely pumped on the designs we have!
I will happily vouch for the quality and warmth of the Aeronaut Quilts. Just did a weekend in the Trinity alps, 48 degrees, 15 mph winds, heavy rain. Bed setup was the Overland Softgoods (@WrinkledPants) flannel sheets and the Aeronaut Quilt was the perfect combination for the temp and weather.
Awesome!! And what a gorgeous area, Trinity alps is amazing. So stoked it’s working great for ya and thanks for sharing the love!
To be honest, since I picked up your quilt, I have yet to use anything else when camping. I do have a North Face Dolomite One sleeping bag with three layers that covers temps from 50 to 15 degrees (F) and a diesel heater but they just sit in their storage boxes in the bed of the truck just in case. But that hasn’t happened yet.
Love hearing that Drew!! So pumped about this, you totally made my day. PS if you’ve got any shots of those adventures it’d be rad to see!
That down comforter… i love that idea.
You could cut that into a shape that matches the lay out of the removable floor in the camper. Then stich some more elastics on the bottom so that the pieces stay affixed to the removable floor.
Yes it will take some custom work… but better sleep is always worthy of extra work.
Photos please… If you decide to do that!
Your post has tested the limits of my imagination!
Not sure which versions of the Exped Megamat Duo everyone has tried but my test fit went great, even has room for an access hatch.
Tested out my Exped DUO 10 M, 72 x 40.9 x 3.9" and it’s perfect. It’s narrower and shorter than the GFC which means I can leave a square removable panel out. Great for a big single sleeper or with a partner imo. I’m an average 5’ 8" guy.
My plan is to leave the mattress up there and deflate it. I found a sweet rechargable pump for inflating and deflating. It’s fast and incredibly tiny. Inflating time: <1 minute, Deflate time: ~2 minutes.
Cheers,
Ron
Nice find on that duo! Looks perfect for 1 person to live in luxury. And you’re right, could be 2 if you snuggle up, some ultralight backpacking sleeping pads are as narrow as 20", a standard pad is 25" wide
With the condensation issues, I would stay away from down and things that will not keep you warm when it’s wet.
Great point, down very much loses it’s efficiency when wet.
Thankfully we designed this for us mouth breathers and it has DWR (durable water resistant) coating embedded in the fabric
Not for rainstorms but it’ll handle a light sprinkle or condensation just fine.
I’ll 100% agree @AERONAUT has it figured out. My 2 year poured his water bottle on it and it beaded up and slid right off the blanket.(then soaked into the mattress)
Thanks Josh! Glad it was just water that time
I know what it’s like, we’ve got 4 wild kiddos of our own and it’s a party
