Where are you located?
California
I was hoping you were close and I could just show you the brackets. I have too many projects on my to-do list to add another to it.
I purchased a martin offroad rack and may be selling my fairing later in the year.
The brackets are pretty simple to make. I am happy to provide a few more details if needed. There are other threads on here with a lot of good deflector ideas as well.
No problem!
I found a used one of these rhino rack deflectors Going to start with that and if its not tall enough, replace the plastic with a taller one. I think it should work!
Nice seeing a Colorado! Good job on the wind deflector.
@atsah - how did you attach the bracket to the drip rail?
I used some lock washers and a little longer bolts into a Gzila track nut and my memory is that i actually had to cut the L bracket down a little bit to get it to be flush with the drip rail and drill some other holes in the drip rail to get it to work (you can see the original hole if you look closely at the third photo). Its all an experiment/puzzle so just keep trying stuff until you get it to work.
Inspired by this thread, and also by atsah, I went to snowboard route myself. Got a free snowboard Burton 5. I wanted to have it adjustable movable, etc.
I just finished putting up some 13/16 unistrut in the back and had some pieces left over, just the right amount, 6 inches, perfect. I figured that unistrut has to make an adjustable brace. Amazon.com: 2 Pcs Adjustable Brace Fitting,180 Degree Turn Joint Connector Bracket,Solar Panel Bracket, Fits for 1-5/8" Post Channel,0.2" Thick : Everything Else also bought 110 pound vehicle magnets also. (they did not come with nuts 6-1.0) put it all together and small adjustments. I have it set at 45°. Seems to be about right at the moment.
And just for safety I have a tether on it until I’m confident it won’t move. Have gone down the highway 75 miles an hour and it didn’t budge.
Magnets are over the rail area. They would not sit very flat with the bumps in the top of the truck.
