#1971… invoiced and paid 6/27. (tacoma access cab long bed) awaiting install call with bated breath.

I have to say, the logistics of what they’re doing is impressive - just in time manufacturing of multiple models, and then trying to time installs so they don’t have a huge pile of campers stacked up awaiting owners. Oof. we do just in time apparel manufacturing and we don’t have to coordinate delivery, and it’s plenty complicated! Their production scheduling ā€˜algorithm’ has to be a brain exploder. Super smart biz.

I’m #1972, sent an email inquiring about a welcome kit last monday, and haven’t heard a peep… 3rd gen tacoma DCSB.

EDIT: Collin just called. They had sent an email out last week but mine didn’t come through. Kelly sent me an updated email and we are working through it now :ok_hand:

Just a heads up I never received a welcome kit, but I didn’t care

Appreciate your understanding of the project, apparel is not an easy industry either! Just doing the quick math, 23 current supported models, 6 color options, 4 window configurations, 2 fabric layout options, 2 fabric color options yields a total of 2208 possible model configurations which will multiply as new models continue to roll out.

A big driver of this process has been material availability. We are having to forecast into second-quarter 2022 with some of our current suppliers to maintain a steady production rate. So getting an understanding of how to build a high-mix lean product has definitely pushed our team to learn a lot of new skills.

Ian, thanks for picking up the phone. Looking forward to getting your options set :call_me_hand:

Re: welcome kits, we have a new online invoice generator that will replace those in the short term and reduce a little waste as those are one time use. If someone really wants one as a collectible, feel free to reach out and ask via email.

@GFC, thank you! Check us out: kitsbow.com. Similar story, making in-house in America, going lean.

And don’t forget - probably, what, 25-50 unique custom parts per model? So, a buh-zillion part numbers??? LOL!

I was happy to pick my options by email.

Keep up the awesomeness. Hoping for a tour!!!

I am driving from Virginia (near DC). I am planning on getting there in 3 days/10 hour drive days + one extra day to account for a little of exploring/seeing friends. Then taking a week to get home.

My install date is 8/13 though.

Having driven from Baltimore to Belgrade I would have to say that 3 days is a hard drive if you are alone. If you are unlucky enough to hit Chicago or Minneapolis anywhere near rush hour, it will set you back. It took me 6 days last year, but I had to go through Denver and then could not resist swinging by Devils Tower which may have set me behind by half a day.

I chose to stay in Bozeman the night before my install just so I could hit the local REI and other stores for last minute supplies. Downtown Bozeman is a fun place but last year it was all CV-19. It should be much more open more now.

I’ve got a 8/12 install date. I’m thinking of taking a northern route through North Dakota to stop in and see old friends in Fargo. On your way back, Devils Tower is worth the side trip and the Black Hills are not too much farther. Time to go see those heads at Mt. Rushmore.

Enjoy the ride.

Im planning on stopping in Chicago, somewhere in SD between Sioux Falls and Rapid City, and then Montana the next day. Ive heard Mt Rushmore is underwhelming, so im not planning on going there. Will stop at the Badlands though.

On my way back, ill be going to Yellowstone, SLC, Moab, and then back to Denver. I think ill also go to St Louis, down to TN, NC, and then back to VA… camping the whole way, or until i get tired.

My brother will be with me until Denver, but ill be the one driving.

Sounds like a killer way to christen the camper. Moab has been on my shortlist ever since building my truck. Sounds like you’re going to need more than a week though!

Goal is to get to Top of the World in Moab. I haven’t been out west before, but I definitely agree, more than a week is needed!

Curious when your install date will be.

Yeah I’m hoping for a Sept install.

Not trying to be a downer about Yellowstone as its such an incredible place but with COVID restrictions eased up, the amount of traffic in Yellowstone is unbelievable. On my recent trip to that area, I drove through West Yellowstone (to get to Bozeman) and there was a four hour backup to simply get in the park. I stopped to get gas in West Yellowstone and spoke with a family who was on there way out. They said that it took them six hours once they were in the park to get to their campsite. There are some incredible places just outside the park where you do not have to deal with traffic that you may want to explore. I have some good ones too if you want to PM. Again, not trying to be a debbie downer but the park is nuts right now and there are some just as beautiful spots close by that get almost no visitors/traffic. Had I tried to make it into Yellowstone with my camper, I would have been very frustrated sitting in 405 style traffic going nowhere. Off season should be a very different story but summer is next level there right now.
