I did my first death valley trip this winter and it blew my mind. That’s pretty much all the way west, but…

People go to Yellowstone and forget to hike. Go early and get on a trail, and you’ll find solitude. But yeah, traffic is gnarly when you leave.

When I was in Moab last year, I stayed at the Copper Ridge BLM land about 18 miles north of the city. The road is BLM143. Plenty of free camping and even a pit toilet. Drive to the end of the road and you can see dinosaur tracks, I’m told. Never made it that far.

The most jaw dropping one-day loop I did was up Long Canyon Rd to Deadhorse state park, then over to Schafer Rd, down to Potash Rd and back to the Long Canyon starting point. There are several youtube videos about Long Canyon and Schafer Rd.

From Deadhorse point in the State park, you can look down a thousand feet to the Potash road. From Deadhorse, head towards Islands in the Sky Visitors Center (Cayonlands NP) but turn off on to Schafer Rd before you enter the park. The descent down Schafer is stunning. An easy road, nothing technical, but you drop into the valley along magnificent switch backs.

At the bottom, you turn on to Potash road and travel between the Deadhorse cliffs on one side and a drop of a few hundred feet to the Colorado River on the other. You can stop at the sorta-famous “Thelma and Louise Point”, which where they filmed the over-the-cliff scene for the movie. From there you cross the lands owned by the Intrepid Potash company, past the multicolored drying lakes and then back to the starting point at Long Canyon.

It’s a great one day loop if you have the time.

I Also didn’t mind waiting for my kitsbow mtb riding shorts/liner - the are superb!

Oh man, thank you! No one likes to make customers wait, but such are the times!

Bummer, I missed my scheduling call and they didn’t leave a number to call them back. Does anyone know, do you just call the 800 number?

PM’d you their number

Thats odd, model rollout shows that model as still “scanning”. I only say this as I am build #1210 and still waiting on mine for the 2020 GMC 2500…

You still rocking that Superlite?

Yes sir, going strong! Although I can’t wait for enclosed storage, seems like my shit is getting soaked every trip.

I’m in central Baltimore about a block from JHU’s Homewood campus. The truck is stored at BWI RV storage mostly because leaving it on the street is just asking for it to be stripped. I’m not sure if you are still looking for some fitted sheets, but they are back in stock on the GFC website. Just ordered a set.

I did get a set a few weeks ago thanks for the heads up. We should get together sometime. A bunch of us just went up to the AOAA this weekend. Oh what kind of rig do you have? Any pics of it? Chuck

He has a Tacoma. Remember he shared the location for that sweet camping spot near Flagpole Knob in VA?

We need to figure out the logistics for the Mid Atlantic end of summer GFC hangout

2019 Tacoma DCLB. Here’s the money shot. Going on a group trail run would be great. I’m heading back to Belgrade in August to pick up V2.
