I’m 6’2” and fortunately a side sleeper because I’d have to have my head right up against the fabric in order to point my feet up. It’s really for my daughter who’s 5’8” and she feels it’s just long enough for her. I love this tent for it’s light weight and thin profile, but it needs a way to raise the foot area when opened, maybe a hinged panel or something. If I was 6’9” and did not sleep in the fetal position, I wouldn’t be able to use this tent.
Do you think, it would make a difference, if you loose the front straps a little and push up the top honeycomb panel at your feet with an extra pillow or something similar ?
Yes, it would help since the fabric hinge would allow some additional height there. I actually made two pieces of wood with notches on each end to fit Int the loops on each lower corner to spread top and bottom apart. Helps a bit.
Does anybody know what order numbers we are on as far as what’s being delivered?
Hey guys, just wanted to post and say Hi! I’m Colin, making the blocks specific to the Superlite (aka @fred__runner). I didn’t think so many folks would be interested in these, but it’s cool to see, and a rad community!
I’ve added some details here about them: Fly Blocks by Colin Belisle - Exposure
I’m currently using the ARB pole as mentioned, but I realize they aren’t cheap. I’ve looked around but can’t find any cheaper options that can be purchased individually. Open to suggestions.
Anyways, I’m trying to keep up with requests in my free time. The first batch of the universal mounts are getting shipped this week.
Cheers,
Colin
hey fred thanks for making these blocks! i sent you an email last week and im on the list for the universals when they become available again.cheapest i found was 11$ each on Ebay with free shipping. for the ARB rods. there are a few onlines that list them for less than 5$ each but none of them have it in stock. i would think a trip to the metal store and with some bending these could be made fairly easy but for me i though 11$ each was good.
got mine here, best price I could find
I know. What kind of company responds that to its customers.
I get that they probably receive 638393 a day asking about the superlites, even more so since they stopped selling them (which I think was a good move, pleased with them for doing that to fulfill current orders) but to just leave us in the dark. The guys on the live feeds were great, but all they ever said was “were making them every day”. Cmon dudes, y’all are better than that.
I contacted GFC again to find out an update. My order was placed back in November and was originally slotted for May Delivery. Then I was told it should be delivered in June. Now it’s been pushed back to the third week of July. Slightly above mid 7k order#
How did you get that sort of timeline reply from them?
Yeah the thing they don’t seem to understand is that I think most people are willing to wait it out but GFC’s ability to keep customers updated is horrendous.
Exactly! It would be 100% worth it even If I have to wait until 2022. I keep postponing a big trip because I have ZERO clue when it might show up.
Lol glad I’m not the only one postponing trips.
I simply reached out and got a nice response from GFC about my spot in line and expected delivery window — see my post above for details.
Recieved our tent (order #70xx) the first week of June. This long weekend is our first chance to take it out for a trip, however we are 5+ hours into attempting to install and have made almost no progress. The “universal” mounting hardware is not so universal and doesn’t fit on our factory CR-V crossbars. Since the span of the mounting rails is so wide it sits on the crossbar housing and the provided screws are too short to wrap the strap around the bars. Since we live in a city without a private garage and will need to take the tent off and on pretty frequently we’re a little disappointed with the install time. Not sure we’ll get much use out of it if we have to dedicate 5+ hours to getting it mounted before a weekend trip. I really wish this information was communicated, we watched the install YouTube multiple times and are having no where near the same experience. Hoping a trip to the hardware store for longer screws will help, fingers crossed!
Again nobody is saying they are mean or bad people but there customer service in poor to say the least. They have done an extremely poor job keeping people updated on their orders and time frames.
First time install always takes way longer. I’d think once you get things dialed in you will be able to do it quickly. Don’t give up!
