Superlite is here!

I just emailed them at their posted contact info. Nothing special! May be luck of the draw? I dunno. I’ve only reached out to them a few times since December, but they’ve always answered pretty quickly.

Just sent this out in an email to everyone on the superlite order queue…

By now, in light of COVID-19, you’re probably used to hearing companies blabber on about “Supply chain… blah, blah, blah…” Hell! Even the White House has created a “Supply Chain Disruptions Task Force” to “provide a whole-of-government response to address near-term supply chain challenges to the economic recovery.”

You get it. There have been delays. Delays are no excuse for our piss-poor communication though. And communication, that’s the one thing that we’re in total control of. So, from here on out, as part of a new vision on how GFC handles its affairs, expect to hear from us a lot more.

Behind the scenes, our CS team has been working to create a new leaderboard system that will display your order status and position in the queue; and also display our prospective dates for essential supply replenishments that are required to continue building units.

SuperLite orders are divided into batches and as soon as we have all of the materials required to produce your batch, we will be able to provide you with a more exact timeline for the fulfillment of your order. In the meantime, the leaderboard will help keep you informed.

  • Cheers from all the chaos-wranglers at Team GFC

PS: Here’s the link to that SuperLite Leaderboard we just spoke of. We recommend refreshing the page no more than once per day but we also understand why you’d ignore that advice.

Love the new update board for superlite thanks!

'sanitized response"

Agreed, I like the new update board. At least we all have a little better idea where we stand. Saw they are 913 units “in the hole”/waiting. At $1,300.00 per unit, that is almost 1.2 million dollars worth of Superlite tents to be built. No wonder why they suspended ordering. They have a bunch of catch-up to do!

I had this exact same issue the first time I tried to inflate it. Mattress is basically un-useable. What was the resolution? I emailed them the other day and are waiting. Nice surprise the first day into a 4-5 day trip and I didn’t bring another mattress. I’m basically sleeping on 1in foam for the rest of the trip. My back is loving me.

Lol, they emailed me that no one has reported it before, and that they will send me brand new one and asked to ship this one back to them. It’s been over month and I have not heard back, no shipping, nothing at all. Th way don’t respond to my emails, great communication team GFC…

A this point just ask for a refund and get an exped. Ive been using their sleeping stuff for years and they’ve been solid. Plus their customer service is far better.

Here’s what mine looks like. Giant bulge on one side that makes me slide up against the opposite wall of the tent. It was more comfortable to let all the air out and sleep on the deflated pad…

I’ll have to see how mine fits. Might actually be better as I can put the dog in the open space next to the pad. Also love my megamat. One of the best camping purchases I have made.

So what’s happening here? Air is entering into a space where it shouldn’t be? under the foam?

Yup, same exact thing. Too bad as the mattress is really comfy.
Now I’m thinking wether I should just ask for refund and look for alternative mattress…$300 for that piece of junk…

We hear you! We had a similar experience with our RAV4 OEM crossbars. Spent all day trying to attach with no success. Even purchased longer bolts but they only came in 1/2" increments, way too long. Our tent also sat on the crossbar housing. We have a flush mount rack and it was very difficult to get our hands in the space. Ended up selling it the next day, very sad.
We spent several hours trying to help mount it to the buyers vehicle. He ended up taking off his rack and mounting the tent while upside down then replacing it on the roof top. Way to difficult for an easy on/off. The offset bracket in the video looks interesting, not sure if that would have helped us though, and we didn’t want to have to purchase a new roof rack. Good luck!

I’m not really sure how these are constructed so it’s hard to say but this would be my guess. It appears that the air is getting stuck between two layers of impermeable fabric that do not have anything between them to allow it to dissipate throughout the full area of the pad creating a large bubble.

Would like to play around with it and see if I can fix the issue but I’m worried they won’t accept it as a defect if I modify it.

That’s unfortunate. I mounted mine on a RAV4 with a Prinsu rack and was able to get it to fit. I will say the installation was really tight and took over an hour the first time around. I’m not sure if I would have been able to reach the mounting points without going through the sunroof. Pretty much the only reasonable way to get it on and off is going to be to leave it mounted to my crossbars and remove them which I think will work for me. I’m leaning towards having to leave it mounted during camping season which mostly defeats a lot of advantages of this design. Did they ask what you would be mounting it to in the questionnaire after you ordered? I assumed this was so they could do a quick vetting to make sure it would work for you. It would have taken them less than 5 min of research to determine whether it will fit on certain vehicles with OEM crossbars and to notify the purchaser. Seems like the proper due diligence for them to at least let you know that it “might” not work.

for those having mounting issues can you just change out your cross bars? the universal type crossbars on Ebay look like they would give more clearance. for around 100$ looks like an option although the Superlite would probly ride a little higher. Yes, they asked what vehicle we had. We also asked at the beginning, before even considering, and were told that we shouldn’t have a problem. Even if the tracks on the tent were a little closer together, so it didn’t ride on the crossbar brackets, we still couldn’t have reached the tracks. It’s a 2020 RAV4, no sunroof. Good idea though.

For those finding that the mounting rails on the bottom of the tent are about the same distance apart as your vehicle’s rails, did you all see the video where GFC showed what the distance between rails was?

Many of these mounting challenges are very common when trying to mount anything to original roof racks and bars. You sometimes need to go aftermarket with your roof rack or get real creative and custom. GFC can’t possibly engineer a solution for every vehicle.

Another tradeoff that’s common is if you want the tent mounted low and tight, get ready to curse when you’ve got to get underneath between the tent and your roof to tighten it down. It’s just a game of trade-offs.

On the mattresses, that’s clearly a defect. One of the internal pressure seams isn’t holding. Either ask for a replacement or a return/refund.
