Superlite is here!

Anyone know what these cords are for?

When you measure the bar length, you need to make sure you measure “usable” length. Ours was off about 1/8" on both sides, making it just hit the side bracket (which is much thicker) and the track not being fully supported. There’s no way GFC could have known, very true. Also make sure you measure both cross bars. Ours were different “usable” length measurements, front and back.

That’s great info! Thank you!

How are you liking it so far?

Does anyone know if the mounting hardware it comes with works on the stock 5th gen 4Runner crossbars. Picking up a tent tomorrow and need to be sure. Thanks

Biggest disappointment was how difficult it was to mount on my gobi-like rack (not easy to fit a hand up under the tent). Took a few breaks and a lot of patience. Thinking about the quick release mounts and if they would help. Best surprise was the rig still fits in my garage with the tent on and no mattress inside. Was easy to setup and comfy to sleep in this weekend. The mounting straps for the ladder were a little short and I could not make it work on the second rung. Had to strap the ladder under the first. All in all, not a bad piece of kit and was worth the wait for me.

Someone on here posted it mounted to stock 5th gen crossbars so I’m assuming it works.

any tips on the install? I’m prob going to go for it w/ the factory bars when my 5th gen arrives. I do have some inno bars too, but would have to buy feet if I go that route. Looks great, I like the flush look.

I heard back and they said the same. They asked for my shipping address and said they should ship today. Crossing my fingers that it comes fairly quick as I have a 9 day trip coming in a few weeks. Maybe they were just waiting for a new shipment in from their supplier? Trying to be optimistic :joy:

Haha same here, after sending another “angry” email, got the response , and mattress been shipped today. Should be here within one week I believe (northeast). Will see how it does, fingers crossed.

Vito,

Sounds like we dropped the ball on your communication, our apologies. We are currently working on some communications improvements across the board here at GFC (see SL leaderboard), and the service department is a part of that improvement plan.

The good thing about having this forum is that it allows for feedback both good and bad for our systems, and we are grateful for your understanding. Stoked to get a new one on the way to ya.

You should both get tracking promptly on those replacement shipments, so please reach out to us via email if you need anything. And in the future, and to anybody reading this, if you haven’t heard back from us on an important subject within a few days at the longest, please reach back out.

Best,

Team GFC

It’s good to see you guys on here. Thank you.

Ive emailed 2x with no response. Maybe I can get one here?

  1. what are the cords in the yellow bag that was in the tent for?

and 2) what is this thing for? (see attached image)

Thank you.

Did you use support@gfcengineering.com? When did you send the email?

This video should answer your questions…

Yes, that is the email address of yours that I reached out to twice. Thank you for posting the video.

I emailed GFC support about the cords. Calder from the GFC support team replied with the following:

The response to your email was incorrect. The cords are guy lines that we include to help with ventilation. The video that was noted above discusses this at the 30 sec mark: Go Fast Campers Superlite Roof Top Tent FAQ - YouTube. Apologies for the confusion!

Can someone by any chance walk me through how the delivery of the superlite works? How much head up do you get? I think I’m going to be out of town when GFC “supposedly” says the siperlite will be shipped/delivered. Does GFC give you a heads up when its about to be shipped?

can only speak of my experience with Old Dominion. they called me the day before saying delivery would be between 12-4pm. they said the driver would call me about 1/2 hour out from my home. well they came to my smallish street with an 18 wheeler at 10am. i had to leave work, annoying but no biggee… word of warning. you should have gotten a message fromGFC about receiving a damaged Superlite and to refuse delivery. the outside box on mine was damaged and a hole pocked through from what i can only guess was a pallet fork. it was a bit of a mess getting a replacement but GFC came through with a replacement 2 weeks later. if your not home for delivery im not sure they would leave it. best to talk with the shipping company. they offered me if i wanted to pick it up from there docks if i wanted. maybe try to set a date for pick up or delivery on a day you or someone will be home. the paperwork says 140 lbs but itslighter than that… i was able to balance the Superlite on a dolly and get it in my basement myself. its like a flat screen TV on steroids… i also posted a picture where i can slide it out of its box using protection on the bottom from a length of plastic gutter channel from Home Depot. best of luck with your New Superlite! enjoy
