I bought mine early in January and was given July as a delivery month. I’m thinking August now. I will adjust my expectations appropriately.
FYI … #6479 delivered today, 05/21/2021. Look inside the tent for the brackets!
I don’t know why it says 140 lbs. (my invoice did too.) The tent came wrapped in thick cardboard and nothing else. You can lift it and move it by yourself (with difficulty) but easy with two people. Only cardboard to cut down and get rid of.
thanks very much! i think i can move this along. did you have issues with the brackets? where they misssing or swimming around inside?.thats the only thing im always cautious about in a big item delivery. the box and outer packing wrap can look good from the outside but until you open it up …if theres loose items inside trashing things ive seen where floaters can really damage stuff. i will post up what i find. thanks again!
No issues but I was a little confused in the beginning. I received the UPS package first with the ladder and a set of fasteners (I still not sure what they are for since I don’t see a place to fasten the ladder to the tent .)
When I received the tent I didn’t see any other fasteners/brackets so I was a little perplexed. After opening the tent all the way I finally found the bracket set ALL the way in the “back” of the tent. No problems putting it on after that.
I suspect that the set of fasteners you received with the ladder is the ladder mounting hardware.
Here’s a link to the ladder mounting system.
Thanks for the video!

i got my Superlite today and sorry to say things didnt go so smooth…the trucking co. Old Dominion called me the day before delivery this past (MONDAY) and tells me it will be delivered next day (Tuesday) between 12-4pm and that the driver will call about 1/2 hour before. i said great i will make arrangements to be home as im working locally. they said if they have to re-deliver there would be an extra charge. well… at 10:02 am i get a call from the driver he is sitting in front of my house. an 18 wheeler on my small street.i says it wasnt supposed to be delivered til 12 but fell on unconcerned ears. i had to leave work. i get there within 10 min and hes parked a house down from mine. my block is usually tite with other parked cars so i wasnt happy having to lug it even further…the Superlite wasnt on a pallet.i did tell the delivery person the ship info says 140lbs. he drags it to the back with a hand truck and uses the lift gate and lower it. i ran to my basement to get a wheeled dolly. as i got to the truck i noticed the box was roughed up. especially one of the corners was bashed. i said im supposed to refuse the delivery if damaged. he calls his office and says they want him to take pictures and that everything is covered and to take delivery. reluctantly i take the Superlite taking a few pictures first.then i put iton my dolly to put it on the outside side of my home and opened the box and took more photos.
there is some torn stitching in the bad corner. not sure if it was done by shipping or it was a poor sew job. i tried calling GFC all day long with a busy signal every time. not sure what to do but i will move forward with an Email and call Old Dominion in the morning.
i opened the whole tent up to look for any other issues.the zippers get snagged and stuck on the back. dont think they are ykk.they look thin and cheap. found some crooked seam lines and loose threads in the interior the floor had some white dander which i think may be from the foam panels.dont know what it is foam/fiberglass flakes or plastic… need to vaccuum that junk. im not liking how dark the floor is and ceiling being black in color i think takes away from the natural light coming thru the gold side fabric. the outside bottom wedge seam looks like it bunched up and wasnt sewn straight like the 3 others.
some other observations… the ceiling is kinda saggy. it droops down several inches. i dont see a way to tighten it up but hopefully someone will get back to me.wish it came with some basic set up instructions or diagrams. the support pole process has me puzzled. in the video it says you can leave them attached to the top. not seeing how to do this… there is a fabric loop halfway up the pole. not sure if the pole is supposed to slip through this? that would make it a pain because the rubber tip at the end of the pole is pretty big to slip through easily. and one more question… at the very top where the support pole goes there isint any specific spot where it should sit. does it sit on the corner fabric or do i push it to the side so the rubber tip sits on the white honey comb sheet. there are also 3 more fabric loops in the pole corners. a small one in the center and 2 bigger fabric loops to the left and the right? just not sure what all those loops do… anybody know? i will try to get some answers.Hav you received any support from GFC? Your post has me thinking I should cancel my order and take my money.
well… no calls or emails back yet.been calling for last 2 days and i get nothing but a busy signal.i must say im optimistic they will help me out but the quality on mine leaves me dissapointed.maybe just got a lemon… i went over the tent again. the outside seam corner in the picture is either damaged in shipping from poking out of the box or poor sewing as stiching is not anchored. it needs re-sewing.dont know why they didnt use better beefier zippers.maybe a size bigger and a quality one like a YKK be nice. they look of poor quality like on my old Snugpak tent. you can see in the picture its easy for the zipper to get snagged on the edge cover fabric and also the grey
toggle loops almost immediatley every time i go to use them and im very careful.cant imagine repeated use lasting. the sag in the middle area with the pockets reminds me of my buddies old Chevy Caprice headliner. he had to use thumb tacks to hold it up or it dragged on your head.when they reply i will update. ive notified the shipping company and hopefully when GFC responds hope to get it shipped back. was hoping for use over the weekend especially after waiting since September but until they call i dont know what to do…on a positive note i love the harware that comes with it. looks of quality. the G hook and strap system used to tighten down the lid is very well thought out.Why are you the first to notice the cheap zippers and say something about it? How can we get GFC to comment on it?
dont think many have got there Superlites yet…the reason i mentioned the zippers is because after owning tons of gear from cottage companies to cheap box store items zippers are the highest wear item in things like packs and tents.dont know what brand of zipper they use but i didnt expect they would use anything but a ykk zipper to be honest. the zippers on my Superlite get caught and stuck without effort almost every time.maybe they sent me a tent with too much over seam fabric but a cheap zipper isint going to last in general and then you have a non working tent.if another owner could jump on here and take the zippers and work them completely back and forth on the back door and let me know if theres is smooth without snagging that would be a positive thing because im hoping i just got a bad one. and for the record i love the upside down Logo. its also printed crooked with the seam line which adds to the look.
Since the superlights are sewn overseas I’m wondering if the overseas manufacturer sourced the wrong zippers on some? I would have thought that GFC would try to use the same zippers across their product line and the ones on the camper are super beefy.
I feel like with Superlight being one of the cheapest roof top tents on the market (even for other overseas made tents) you can’t expect to have premium components like on a GFC Camper. The shipping damage is a bummer and should be made right, but the rest of the issues seem about right for the price to me.
I got this reply from Support a few minutes ago.
I understand your sentiments and concern. I personally along with another colleague checked multiple Superlites this morning to insure that we have good zippers on our tents. The very first Superlite prototype that we built had YKK zippers. We also checked our most current inventory to make sure we did not change anything from our first prototype. We found our newest Superlites have YKK zippers as well.
What was the response of the shipping company?
