I want a GFC where the tent section is completely detachable so it converts to only a bed shell BUT when attached still has the ability to open up for full access between tent and bed. Also must be waterproof in either state.
Your post got me thinking…what if the camper frame portion of the V2 could be flat packed (then stick assembled by the customer) and the RTT portion shipped via freight pallet or reinforced box? Would reduce the installation hours at GFC HQ and potentially get product to the customer faster…no more long drives to Belgrade. Thoughts?
Agree completely. Access to the tent from the bed plus the standing headroom when needed does it for me.
Plus I just love the way it looks.
Your points about DIY liability are very valid. It’s one thing to assemble the frame, it’s another to make sure it fits the truck correctly and is fully sealed.
@cvollers and @the_philxx someone was listening to you. actually a buddy of mine was talking about this idea as well, a year or so ago, seems plausible
Lone Peak looks like it may just be vaporware for the time being. That long overhang over the cab looks especially problematic. Perhaps when they have a prototype built and a legit customer base it may be worth revisiting their concept.
It is always fun to see new things new ideas changes in concepts yet I don’t think I would’ve put that particular video out I’m sure they’re very excited but until we actually see full mock ups.
Looking at a simple computer simulation doesn’t do much for me I’m curious I bookmarked the link I’ll take a look later but I agree with the others here I have a lot of questions.
Looks like Lone Peak came out with a real proto-type. It is interesting to see new comers to the market. Very cool setup and I think it ships to your house and you are to then assemble/setup? Would be interesting to see real world testing/usage:
Good update would like to see some specs included in the video but found some things on the website gonna keep an eye on this one nice introduction though.
