What have you done to your GFC this week

I used a dremel and cut a round notch above the existing access hole. Right now there’s a gap where the wire sits behind the light but I’m going to add some butyl tape that will add some thickness and will also fill in that gap for the wire. I’ll hoping to do that tonight or tomorrow morning and I’ll take some photos showing the cut out and how it ends up looking.

Testing out using the @AERONAUT booster duo as a windblock/insulation for the tailgate door as I have the V2 tent and the draft is brutal. On nights where its below -15° it really sucks the heat out even with the diesel heater running on full blast. The last two nights its been -30° and the booster duo has worked well. I need to tweak it a bit to help with the draft wrapping around the sides but its a thin enough barrier that I can still use the transformafloor as normal without having to worry about damaging the floor panels or the booster duo.

I’ve currently got it hung using the 3d printed cable tie inserts for the GFC track and then using Aeronauts tie downs that are meant to connect the booster to the hoverquilt.

Love this!! There could be something there … :eyes:

Very easy to notch the aluminum by hand with just a needle file, it’s what I did for my camera install.

I ended up notching it up higher as it was pinching the cable more than I liked. Happy with how it turned out. I misplaced the butyl tape and ended up using black RTV instead to seal it from the back (not shown).

Today I installed the 589 Fabrication bed stiffeners and edge trim for when I smack my noggin against the edge of the side hatches. The camera mount didn’t show up like it was supposed to so that’ll have to wait until next weekend.

More deets on this please! what wood and thickness did you go with? Found these hinges that I think might work: Robot or human?

Installed a 250WH Iceco power bank solely to power the lights, but may come in handy as a back up to our Ecoflow power station if we ever run low.

@MidwestDivision I have been looking at options for this and I really like this. Mind sharing pics/details on how you mounted it? I’m going to look into pricing on these.

Pricing was really good, I think I paid $110 on sale a few weeks back.

As for mounting, I wanted it to be easily removable for charging purposes, wanted it to appear floating (so visible brackets were out), and I wanted to maintain the magnetic abilities it has so I can still attach to our fridge if we ever want to pull it out of the truck for the day, or use in our 4Runner. I ended up just using heavy duty Velcro, actually the kind similar to the heavy duty command strips but with 3M vhb tape. The top one is adhered to the inner lip of the bedside cap, and the lower one is velcroed to the bedrug. Works really well and very sturdy!

This past weekend I made homemade roof rack bars using 80/20 from Tnutz and end plates from Zoro. They turned out well and should be sufficient for holding Maxtrax and similar but I may end up getting @jedgar end plates to make them stronger.

Also fabricated some quick fist mounts to carry my shovel but they’re not long enough so the shovel rubs on the tent. I have the Builtright extensions on their way to me.

This weekend I’ll install the GFC headliner…

Thanks! I see Iceco offers a magnetic plate for like $20 so I might consider this as well. I also want something removable since I likely won’t store it in the bed during the winter.

You’re welcome! That plate would be an awesome solution as well.

I’ve been testing this power bank over the past few weeks here in Minnesota as my son and I use our camper every weekend when we go snowboarding - it’s a great place to gear up out of the elements! And part of this testing has been leaving the power bank in the truck full time. The cold doesn’t seem to really drain the charge so that’s been great to see!

Awesome this is good to hear since I’m based in MN as well! I’ll probably pick one up next time I can find a sale. Looks like they are around $140 and their website says discount codes won’t work on this product.

Oh, awesome! ICECO seems to have sales quite often. With Memorial Day coming up, you should be able to score a decent price on one.

I’d rock those racks until you feel a need for something else. They look great will work perfect.

What part of MN are you in? I’ve only seen maybe one or two GFCs in MN. I’m located in Hopkins currently but spend quite a bit of time up north. If you see a newer white 3rd gen with black GFC thats probably me!

Oh nice! I’m up near Elk River. We spend quite a bit of time between here and the north shore, as well as northern WI and the UP. And you’re right, I think I’ve only seen two other GFC’s in MN.

St Louis Park GFC owner just down the road from you!
