What have you done to your GFC this week

How’s the wind fairing? Noticably quiet? Efficiency gains?

Here’s a writeup I did after initial install. The biggest win is the noise reduction. I like to drive with the back window open and the wind noise is much less with the fairing. It may give a small bump in mpg, but there’s simply too many variables to be able to say for certain.

I pulled the tent out and started mapping the new side door. It should be done tomorrow!

Upgraded my 100ah battery to a 200ah. Luckily I planned ahead for this during my initial build so it only took about 15 minutes.

I did some initial testing. Looks like I should be able to run all my circuits (Starlink, fan, lights, router, media server, and cooler on max) for about 30 hours. In my normal use case scenario it should give me 4 days without starting the Jeep and with no “range anxiety”. Both cases are extreme scenarios.

Looks like you’ve done your research. I’m looking to make a similar upgrade but want a heat and cold tolerant battery. Are there any vendors who do a better job on thermals?

New Tent Day!!!

@GFC_Thomas installed the V2 Pro Tent today over at @BasilsGarage

Super stoked, the new tent is definitely an upgrade.

  • New bug screen is smaller and easier to see through. It should keep out the little biters.
  • The new door and window is nice. The ladder wedge thing for the front windows is a cool detail I didn’t know about.
  • Really like the ability to zip down the back door from the top

I was really confused and curious about this, but I think you are referring to the flat shim that allows the small windows to be propped open for air flow while still maintaining privacy…

I agree, it’s a cool functional addition to the tent!

Yes, that’s what I was talking about. Thomas called it a “ladder slot”. Totally see why what I said was confusing. I don’t remember seeing it anywhere in the previews.

Now I just need to rig up something so I can use the Shittco blocks and poles on the side windows with my 270 awning.

I’m glad to hear Basil’s can do the swap. I’m in line to get a V2 Pro tent and cannot wait to get it

Yep, they will be able to do it. I’m very happy with the new tent and haven’t even camped in it yet. Just hung out in it last night checking it out.

Last week I was playing with updating my ASG awning mount set up

I didn’t like how it was kinda resting on the hinge, I worried that at just the wrong time it could bind up and cause some damage so I played with flipping the lock out of the way

Learned how to use the mirror functions in fusion360

Now they have a home and stay tucked out of the way.

Also shifting to the interior for a bit

It’s a work in progress, but I try to make a new part/ learn a new skill in CAD every week.
This week I’m filling the void for my Rivian, since I know they are too low volume for anyone to bother measuring/ making

Behold my early attempts at a molle panel

Learning how to repeat stuff like a molle grid with 1/4-20 holes and how to export properly for machining services

Preliminary test shows I can get this cut in aluminum and shipped from sendcutsend for under $250
