Which extinguisher mount did you use?
Just a cheapy from amazon. Wasn’t sure it would work, so bought this as more a proof of concept, but it is holding up well even though it is not a fancy aluminum one. The clamps are plastic coated and where the mount contacts the bar has a fabric coating also.
Added it a couple weeks ago and just back from a 5000km road trip around northern BC, Canada. Hasn’t budged and all still looks good. If/when it breaks I may consider a nicer aluminum one.
Added a couple of elasticated netting bags to the interior roof for small light things like ebooks, flashlights etc. I think they are designed for car seat backs, and attach with velcro hooks to the headliner.
Updated to a solution for not having our phone under our pillows in the camper.
We recently picked up these magnetic phone grips made by ohsnap
phone grip simply magnets to the magspot
Still potentially may upgrade to a MagSafe phone charger (since the ohsnap grips still allow for MagSafe charging) that we velcro to the headliner as well, but for now, this is a great solution.
Trying out a new storage solution for the headliner.
We picked these bags up from Amazon
On the side of them are the @jedgar mag spots that we use to hold our phones, those details are in the post above.
Does the headliner prevent the use of the T-slot inside ?
No, the t track is still fully usable.
I got my hands on some AluCab Modcap Molle panels for the full size truck and cut them down to size before installing along the front of the camper. Used rivets for strength and will have my electrical connections for the heater wired to the driver side panel and will eventually add LED’s to the upstairs and downstairs.
Cowboy engineering When you want to carry your fly rod, without breaking it down. I’m sure that Mark at Lumbering bear adventure products could come up with a much more elegant solution.
Haven’t been out in it in a while (but have a few nights this week planned and many in sept/oct).
Wanted to get my system dialed in. I don’t want much if anything permanently mounted in the truck. I think of things as modular systems that get dropped in based on the trip, weather, etc. Like I am not taking my diesel heater with me in June. And probably not the solar panel or starlink for a quick weekend trip of ice climbing.
I posted before about the storage that my friend helped me create around the bedslide. This became evident that I needed this to prevent gear from falling off the bedslide when pulling it out/in. And too prevent gear from rolling under the bedslide and gettting lost/jammed up.
I repurposed the first storage compartment next to the battery to put the MPPT controller and a fuse block for everything, used XT60 flush mounts with connections to the:
Battery
Solar
Lights
Starlink
Heater
with appropriately sized fuses. This let me get rid of the light/cigarette adaptor cleaning up the wiring for the lights.
I also took the time to rehouse my diesel heater. I got it for a song from a user here, but without throwing shade, the openings were cut with a butter knife and there were extra openings. So a new HF case and some time, plus seperate waterproof connecters for the conroller and power were wired in. I really like the tent vent I got off etsy, but improved it with a bungie to hold the mesh zippers together:
and drilled a hole for the controller wire to come into the tent. Also insalling the headliner made it easy to put the controller up on the roof with a little velcro.
All cleaned up, it is a pretty nice tight package, with adding some @Rancho lumbering bear hooks to manage the wires
I did also add some 3/8” foam d behind the heater when mounted on the @Eisenheim meathook, really silences things down and the pump doesn’t resonate anymore on the GFC panel:
And the power set up is all set up with some cheap amazon 8mm ring terminal→xt60 and a xt60→5521 adaptor. My only wish is I could get a locking 5521 cable.
Overall, really happy with where I grounded out. Probably won’t be making any changes for a while.
That’s a great idea!! Maybe I should design a full kit for fishing rods ![]()
Yes you should
Added some L-track to the upper frame of my topper. As nice as the Freedom Coast stuff is, it’s pricey and I like all the mounting options available for this track.
The door jam seal is a good idea! Simple, cheap and adhesive.
Pete, I think I’m going to have to steal this idea.
that’s a great idea! there are a lot of options for mounting with the L-track.
Had some spare time this afternoon so I knocked out two little projects. First, I mounted my Dark Angel Medical kit on the molle panel. It has a Velco “plate” that attaches to the panel and then the kit attaches to that. Solidly mounted:
Then I mounted the Starlink Mini mount I bought off etsy from @keeganbuilds I have to point out his excellent customer service. Starlink keeps changing the size of the hole so he had to print me out a new mount which he did at no cost to me. ![]()
Finally, I added a few more stickers
I’ve seen some levels folks mount to the T track of the camper, but this seems a lot more logical since I can just look down and adjust as necessary while I’m parking.
Where is that mounted?
