What have you done to your GFC this week

That clear roof is kinda nuts, but also pretty dang rad. Curious to see how it holds up over time. what material/thickness is it, 3/4th Plexiglass? how flexible is it while closing up, can you walk on the closed roof still?

It’s 1/4” thick with a self healing ppf on the exterior. 3/4” thick is too heavy and would exceed the weight limit of the gas struts. The stock honeycomb panel is only 1/2” thick. It’s pretty rigid but I wouldn’t walk on it. Not sure why I would need to. I don’t keep anything on my roof. I modeled this after the Inspired Overland Stargazer RTT. Thought it would be nice to have a GFC version that I can watch the stars at night or the rain during the day.

Rad! we stick our heads out the back of the tent to watch the stars, this is a pro move haha.

I do walk on my roof a fair amount. loading kayaks, getting a better vantage on a view, getting up on the carport to keep the squirrels from building nests under my eaves. the utility is endless

Any ideas for repurposing the GFC badge from the rear of the tent? Paint came off in the manual car wash so I removed it for the extra t-nuts. Too big for a keychain…

I used 1/4” polycarbonate.

Being a solo occupant of the GFC, I’ve put up with having my keys, pistol, bottled water, phone, and power bank scattering everywhere when I sleep for the past ~ 3 years.

Finally decided to do something about it.

I designed and made a tray that secures all of those things in one spot, with an elevated “tray” within the tray for the phone (or in my case, will probably be where my glasses go since I use a sleep tracking app that detects mattress movement)

Looks nice! I use the Lumbering Bear bags and they’re great for keep stuff organized

i thought about buying those instead of doing my own to save time, but i sleep with my head at the rear of the camper and the hanging style of bags are not exactly easy to reach.

i tried to sleep with my head at the wedge section of the camper and that ended with “AW F*CK” in the morning as I sit up and bump my head real hard on the roof panel lol

Interesting, I sleep in the same direction for the same reason. My bags are easy enough to reach

i thought they mount on the side rail? or it seems that way

They do mount on the side rail. For some reason I’ve never taken a picture of them, that I can find any ways. They hang down into the perfect height for me where they’re out of the way but easily accessible.

i see. yeah i can’t do side rail lol in addition to needing all my stuff accessible while im laying down i also need the phone sitting on the same plane as the mattress for sleep tracker to work.

set up some new lighting in the bed of the truck and in the tent.

… what is that little Cubby Tray thing you got going on there?

Windows look great…tell us more about how you went about doing this!

Thanks! I’m really liking them. Definitely getting more airflow through them on the road, for the dogs. I shamefully haven’t been able to get out yet for a trip due to kids sports, but hoping to get out in the coming weeks.

Here’s a link in my build thread for more info. Let me know if you want to know any more. Happy to give whatever insight I can.

I ordered this and cut it in half

Made a holder to help protect and have easy access to paper towels.

Need to remove the inside cardboard tube, I use a long screw driver to break it loose and then pull out the cardboard tube. I also put a couple wraps of tape to help maintain the shape of the roll and mark the outer edge with a marker so that when I start getting towels with a mark on them I know the roll is almost finished.

The 3D printer holder is optional. The orange stuff sack does not have any support, the green one does. I also replaced the drawstring on the green bag with shock cord to eliminate the dangling drawstring.

Hang in your location of choice and pull gently.
