What have you done to your GFC this week

@jedgar used to sell them, not sure if he does anymore

I have a set of round bar mounts for sale

I will keep that in mind. I get my camper installed in July, then I’ll see what I add first. Thanks

Not so much a mod to the GFC but a mod to the thing that carries it around. I added an 18 gallon auxillary tank to the Tacoma. I looked at the LRA tanks and they added about 30-40% more fuel, the Helivue adds around 60% depending on how you calculate the stock tank capacity. The big test is coming up when I drive from SC to Flagstaff for Expo in a few days.

I installed one December of last year on my Tacoma. It has probably been my favorite addition other than the camper! Definitely helps with range anxiety.

Installed mine last week, so other than around town I haven’t had a chance to really test it out. I’m looking forward to being able to drive past a gas station on long trips.

Where in MT? I worry bought my dogs in back.

I’ve been running this for a little bit, but I integrated my solar/electric into my Underland Offroad molle panel in the back of my V2. Youtube video here if anyone is curious:

Episode 107: A Lightweight Overland Truck Solar / Power System

Any leaks?

Nope, nothing yet and had about 9 inches of wet snow and a couple days of rain too both sitting and driving too. I’ve been very happy with this modification so far. Not right for everyone but definitely an upgrade for me with how I use it.

…those Mounts for the Renogy Solar Panels are DIY? or were you able to source them somewhere?

…also how are the mounts holding up to the miles of wind resistance?

Thx

Picked those mount up on Etsy. They’re stuck to the roof with 3M adhesive circles. It’s hard to see on the video but I also have 3M dual lock in several places on the panel to help secure it to the roof. I put quite a bit of freeway miles between Oregon to San Diego and back and it hasn’t budged at all.

If you’re in San Diego again, I’d love to check it out. That looks like the ideal solution for solar

Been thinking of this silly idea for a while. Finally got a round to it.

Been doing a lot more climbing these past few years and now taking it pretty seriously, so get a new hangboard to add to the training.

I didn’t want to just have it in one place, like my hallway:

So I mounted it to a french cleat so I could move it around (like into the garage training area as well).

I also didn’t want to miss out while camping and biking etc. the whole point of the hangboard (for me) is to maintain a baseline finger strength. So I wanted a way to take it on the truck. So a little 1.5x3" aluminum extrusion, a few awning mounts off the classifieds section, and an extra piece of french cleat, and I have a portable solution:

And with the hangboard mounted:

I made the baseboard big enough and added holes so I could hang it elsewhere as well, but doubt I will use them…

Was supposed to ride bikes today, but it rained in the am, ruining my plans, so I finally got around to doing something I wanted to do since the day I ordered the camper.

I always wanted two tone panels, color matched on the outside and white on the inside. The white inside reflects WAY more light and makes the whole downstairs a nicer, brighter place to hang out (having hung out in the desert letting the rain soak in and the roads dry for a few hourse before leaving camp quite a few times).

So I ordered it in white, then I went down a rabbit hole to make the outside match. I found a dead match oracal vinyl, and I happen to have a vinyl cutter from a past life. I think I cut the graphics six months ago, but just got around to installing them today.

Learned a lot from the passenger side, and almost got the drivers side perfect. When I get sick of the design, I can make a new one.

Driver side came out good…

Passenger has some bubbles if you look:

Now my friends know it is me, since apparently there is a doppleganger here in SLC, same DC tundra, same color, same white GFC, same 1up bike rack…

Nice work!

Did the vinyl just sink into the recessed GFC letters? Where did you get your vinyl, or what was the thickness of it?

Made turbo nap more comfortable! I’m a side sleeper and right at about 220 so my shoulders and hips were “feeling” the deck. So bought some 44ILD 1" furniture foam and placed it between the deck and the mattress. Brief trials all point to being a good decision and the mattress supports me a lot better.

I can close the top and it does bow a bit in the middle as a result but have ordered thicker weather stripping to try and help seal it up better

Will post the results when I redo the weather strip.

I installed these Drip Rails on my Gladiator, they were on for a drive around the block and that was it, I took.them off.

They constantly vibrate and every bump, they’d smack against the roof.

I’ve had mine on since that original post with no issue. I do have a considerably larger gap between my roof and camper than a Gladiator though.
